|Story:||Matilda was rescued by a caring person only to find she was in foal at the ripe old age of 25! When her foal, Memphis, was born, he wasn't able to nurse and had to be rescued and bottle fed. |
Unfortunately, Matilda has not had a lot of handling. Matilda was very difficult to manage but her feet were in a terrible state and needed to be attended to - they were definitely causing her pain. She would not tolerate anyone going near her legs and became extremely dangerous lashing out with both front and back hooves. We decided to have one final attempt under heavier sedation, however the vet determined that Matilda was suffering from a heart murmur and this combined with her age, would make it a dangerous prospect to put her completely under. Even under heavy sedation, Matilda was still lashing out and extremely agitated. After much consideration and discussion, with heavy hearts the decision was made that that best possible outcome would be for Matilda to be euthanised.
