Save a Horse Giving Day

This is it everyone ! Our Melbourne Cup Fundraiser has officially started.

As the nation gears up for Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, November 4, we’re asking Australians to focus on something truly meaningful – the wellbeing of every horse.

For Save A Horse Australia, Cup Day isn’t just about racing…… it’s Save A Horse Giving Day.

A day to reflect on the welfare of all equines across our country and to take action for change.

Every day, horses across Australia face neglect, abandonment, and slaughter.

This needs to change.

Horses like Road to Honours – a beautiful ex-racehorse rescued by our charity – would not be alive today without your support. He was moments away from being slaughtered for pet food when we stepped in.

Thanks to donors like you, Road to Honours now has a second chance at life.

Thankfully, we are seeing positive steps in the industry, such as the introduction of new welfare measures by Queensland Racing, and the rest of the Australian Racing industry.

But the problem runs deep, and more must be done.

Our Goal

Over the next two days, we’re asking for your help to raise $75,000 – vital funds that allow us to keep saying “yes” to horses in need.

Every dollar helps us continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses across Australia. Right now, we receive daily surrender requests – but too often, limited funding means we have to turn them away.

This Melbourne Cup, we’re asking you to take a different kind of punt.
