Lakota

Mare Thoroughbred x Arab?

Lakota was surrendered to us and adopted out but was returned due to a change in circumstances of her owners. Lakota is a nice natured mare and a beautiful horse. Her ground manners needed work but are now almost perfect. She does need a confident and relaxed intermediate rider. She will tense up if her rider is tense. She is a pleasure to ride and doesn’t have any nastiness in her at all. She isn’t going to be a show hack or a dressage mount but for pony club or pleasure riding she will be perfect. Lakota is also very forward under saddle and loves to canter. She has the most beautiful slow canter and can almost canter on the spot. Lakota doesn’t like to be left alone and although you can take her away from her paddock buddy to be ridden and she is a good girl, she doesn’t like being left alone in the paddock. If she is, she will pace and call out to her mate. She would make a great riding horse for someone who has another horse that is just a paddock bum or someone who has 3 horses so if one is taken away she still has a mate. Lakota suffered a few random bouts of gas colic and then came an attack that would not resolve. After walking her all night and performing equissage, her heart began to fail and she was exhausted. We were left with no option but to have her euthanised.
