Mystique was rescued from the dogger’s yard. She was skinny and covered in ring worm. It was suspected that she was in foal and on ultrasound, it was discovered that she was indeed in foal but that there was a problem. The foal was not due for possibly another 10 weeks but there was an infection present in the uterine lining. The foal was not active and there was a real risk of miscarriage. Mystique was given round the clock care in hospital and IV antibiotics to try to stop the infection and prevent labour. She made good progress and it was decided she would remain in hospital until she foaled down in case of complications. Mystique gave birth to a beautiful colt on Thursday 2nd July 2015. He came a little earlier than expected, but is doing very well.
