Courage was surrendered to SAHA in emaciated condition – even worst condition than the original photos we received. He had been losing weight and told he was peeing every 5-10 minutes. On arrival at SAHA his condition was shocking the worst arrival in some time – how he was still standing was a miracle in itself. He was closely monitored for refeeding syndrome and colic; he was on 5 small feeds and day and hay 24/7 and thoroughly examined by vets.
Courage is a raced thoroughbred who has been off the track since 2020, unsure of all of his history after this but we are looking forward and at only 9 years old we were optimistic that we could bring him back from the brink.
He is aptly named as it took a lot of Courage to come back from such severe emaciation.
Courage is now up to date on his vet work and back in good condition.
