Sasha was at the Rockhampton council pound, found in poor condition. We were contacted by numerous supporters asking us to help so we got in contact and with the help of a loyal supporter Cherie who managed to pick her up and look after her for a week whilst we organised Dale from North Queensland Horse Transport to bring her down to her sanctuary.
This mares’ racing career finished back in 2014. Where she has been since then or how she ended up in Rockhampton pound no one will probably ever know.
We were told as a race mare she was sassy, and made her presence felt, so Sasha (like Beyoncé’s alter ego Sasha Fierce) fit well.
After being brought up to date on vet work and being back in good condition, Sasha underwent assessment under saddle as part of the OTT program and continued to show her sassy nature as previous trainer/riders had advised so the decision was made to not continue with her as a ridden horse. So, she is available as a companion horse, preferably to a home experienced with thoroughbreds.
