A foal was born as his mother died, and the owners could not afford to even get the help of a Vet.
The foal did not even have the opportunity to feed from his mum to get lifesaving colostrum, and his fate was very bleak.
Tuesday night we transported him to WestVets for critical care.
Overnight he has received plasma transfusions, feeding tube, a drip inserted and antibiotics. He made it through the first night however foals are very fragile so we are staying guardedly optimistic.
24/7 critical care in hospital for foals is extremely expensive, and we want to give this cute little colt we have named Alec every chance.
