Sahara

Colt Thoroughbred

Sahara was surrendered to us after his very ill mother passed away shortly after giving birth. Her colostrum was milked and given to Sahara by bottle in the hospital. One of our volunteers kindly loaned us her mare, Piper, who had just weaned her own foal to act as Sahara’s nanny mare. Unfortunately, Sahara became ill and was rushed back to the vet hospital. It was discovered he had a meconium impaction and was treated accordingly. He became weaker and weaker and although we held out hope for a miracle and he was given around the clock care by Matt, his vet at Gold Coast Equine, Sahara just couldn’t fight any more and he was humanely put to sleep after 5 short days on this earth. RIP our beautiful little man..
