Juniper was a station bred mare rescued from the meat buyers at the Laidley sales. She had a foal with her, but it was separated from her and from what we could find out, sold to someone else. Juniper was facing a horrible fate.
We rescued her, and she was rested and then assessed under saddle. She didn’t cope well with being ridden which suggests she may have been a broodmare her whole life.
She is a very timid mare who would require a lot of time and patience to be brought into ridden work, so she is best suited as a paddock companion.
Juniper is a great doer as a paddock companion who is just a little nervous but learns her people and comes around. Juniper needs someone gentle yet firm, but she is kind mare, and she would make a perfect companion and isn’t bossy in the paddock at all.
