Pilot was rescued from the Burpengary doggers. He was paid for with just hours to spare, by one of our supporters – Michelle Pilot.
Pilot retired from racing after a very successful career. He almost didn’t make it home from the doggers! We could only fit one horse in and when our volunteer was on her way home from picking the other horse up we made her turn around to go and get Pilot as well. He almost didn’t make it, but we had some amazing people helping that day.
We also found out that it wasn’t his trainer who sent him to the knackery – he was actually rehomed as a polo pony, but it seems his polo career wasn’t so good, and he ended up sent to the dogger. Pilot is a beautiful, smart, sensible horse who is a quiet, beautiful darling under saddle (slightly lazy) but just beautiful, soft and supple. He would even possibly suit a young rider!
