Jaffa was surrendered to SAHA with some calcification in her pelvis. She required surgery three times – twice to remove pus which had built up after an untreated old injury and once to remove grey horse melanoma. She recovered extremely well and was such a sweet mare. Unfortunately it was discovered that she also suffered from weak stifle joints which made her unsound under saddle. She was perfectly paddock sound though and loved to hoon around. Jaffa became extremely lame and was taken to Redlands Vet Hospital. Upon xray it was discovered that her joints were so badly damaged, she had bone rubbing on bone and sadly Dr David Lovell recommended immediate euthanasia.
